The Sasquatch Music Festival remains one of the most dissapointing musical experiences of my life. The hipsters out there were so much worse than I imagined. Various tasteless 16 ounce beers were selling for $12. People resorted to hiding zip-lock bags of vodka in their underwear and literally carpeting the place with trash. It was all the bad things about massive music festivals without any of the carefree, relaxed, fun atmosphere that generally makes the inconveniences worth it.
That being said the music itself was enjoyable in 2010 — Edward Sharp, Mumford & Sons, The Hold Steady and The Lonley Forest were all great day one shows — and the lineups have remained strong. It’s also f**king gorgeous.
And for a blast from the past, check out my ill-fated Blogspot preview, maybe the last Blogspot title I create; definitely not the last time I bite off more than I can chew on the blog front.
