Slow States

"It is veneer, rouge, aestheticism, art museums, new theaters, etc. that make America impotent. The good things are football, kindness, and jazz bands."
-George Santayana

  • If you want the deeper, hattier former-lead singer version this one will do. These guys played at Hamilton Live last night, which for DC folks can be thought of as a smaller, newer Birchmere, only for people with more money who prefer smaller portions.  Still, the music quality is probably as good or better than the previous venue-best I’ve heard in person, which was The Wood Brothers playing an awesome set at The Barns at Wolf Trap.

And there’s fringe stuff here for your pop-soul — the tallest guy apparently backed-up The Dixie Chicks for a while, and the Steel Drivers also apparently have a good song publisher, because this is probably as good a placement as you’re going to get (do yourself a favor and jump to 2:00):
